Internal &/or External Pest Control
Our most popular service is the internal and external pest control service. This involves a walk around your home, inside and out, to establish pest pressure and identify where they may be entering your living space.

We will provide an external perimeter spray of your house and window and door frames, a light interior spray of skirting boards, garage space, spot gel treatment for cockroaches and a light powder dusting of your roof void.
We will also identify conducive conditions in and around your home that are attracting pests to help you lessen pest pressure. This multi-dimensional approach will make treatment intervals longer as you will not be solely relying on insecticides alone to do the job. It will also save you money too!

Step 1

We talk to you to establish if you have any problems in particular with certain creepy crawlies and where you are seeing them in and around your home or business. We then do a walk around to establish pest evidence and pressure, if there are any conducive conditions and conduct a risk assessment before we start our treatment.

Step 2

An external perimeter spray of your house and window and door frames, a light interior spray of skirting boards and garage space, a spot gel treatment for cockroaches and a light powder dusting of your roof void.

Step 3

We will advise you of anything we find that may be attracting pests or providing them with safe access to your home. Once these factors are removed it will further reduce the pest pressure on your property and add to the overall effectiveness of the pest management program.

Spiders (or arachnids) can incite fear into many. It is true that Australia is home to some of the most venomous spiders in the world but their notoriety is bigger than their bite….a fatality from a spider bite in April 2016 was Australia’s first since 1981.

Many spiders will give you a nip and whilst most of the time it will be less dangerous than a bee sting it’s not something most of us want to contend with. It is important to us that you feel safe in your home or garden.

Spiders are very easy to identify from other little critters by one defining feature, they have 8 legs (whereas insects have 6 legs).

In your tenancy agreement you may be required to have an end of tenancy flea/tick treatment if you have pets such as dogs or cats.

Flea infestations can be complex, but with your and your pets cooperation we can get it under control. Where pet animals are involved, the owner themselves must make sure they are treated at the same time as the premises (animals must be taken to a vet or professional pet wash for de-fleaing). A good vacuuming directly prior to treatment will help, followed by the contents being sprayed by us with the appropriate insecticide. Surface spraying with the appropriate insecticide and insect growth regulator (with lox toxicity to mammalian pets) of internal carpets and rugs, crevices and floorboard cracks as well as outdoor areas and subfloors must be undertaken.

Most flea eggs are very hardy and unaffected by these control methods. However, eggs normally hatch within 2-14 of being laid, triggered by physical activity of a host. Once they hatch they are exposed to our insecticide and will soon perish.

Treating a wasp nest can be very dangerous and an established nest that has become a risk to you and your family will certainly require professional treatment.

It may contain thousands of stinging individuals so initially trying to remove the nest poses too high a risk of attack from aggressive wasps trying to defend their nest and young.

Wearing protective clothing we will select the appropriate treatment to eliminate the wasps and keep you safe from the risk of stings. For your peace of mind we can return to remove the nest after a minimum of 72 hours, though this will incur an additional charge. In some instances it may not be possible to remove the nest if it is in an inaccessible area such as an enclosed roof void or wall cavity.

Rats and mice as pests are generally unwelcome from the viewpoint of gnawing damage, food contamination and the transmission of diseases such as Weil’s disease, salmonella and gastrointestinal viruses.

There are more than 300 species of termites in Australia but only a small percentage of these are of concern to us. Most pose no threat to property but are of great benefit to ecosystems by recycling decomposing organic matter back into the environment.

However, here on the Sunshine Coast our warm climate and high rainfall is the perfect environment for certain species of termite that pose a significant threat to our timber structures to thrive.

There are three distinct groups of termites, subterranean termites, drywood termites and dampwood termites.

Subterranean termites are the group which the vast majority of the termite species belong to that cause damage to our timber structures. As the name suggests many subterranean termites make tunnels in the ground, typically in the top 200mm, to reach food sources that can be a sizable distance from the colony. This group includes the mound-building and tree dwelling (arboreal) species but all require direct contact with soil in order to survive.

Termites live in colonies which are made up of groups of individuals (castes) with very specific functions and tasks. There is a king and queen, of which the queen can live up to 20 years and produce up to 30,000 eggs daily. The eggs hatch into nymphs which in turn develop into either workers, soldiers or reproductives (known as alates). These reproductives, or alates, will grow wings and leave the nest to start another colony elsewhere.

The remaining workers are responsible for feeding the colony whilst the soldiers are defending the colony. Interestingly it is only the worker termites who cause the damage to our timber structures as it is they who have the job of gathering the food and feeding all the other castes as well as maintaining and repairing the colony structures and mud-tubes.

If an active termite mud-tube is found and opened, the size of the workers and soldiers can indicate how close it is to the colony. Typically if the workers are large and the soldiers small this normally indicates that they are a relative distance from the colony. If the workers are small and the soldiers large this will indicate that the colony is most probably close by.
